#140: No Doubt The World Needs Me.

You might have asked yourself what the whole point of you being on this planet was. Is there even a point to be made?

I participated in Duke Stump’s online course «Bonfire With Soul» last year and loved every moment of it. It was such a positive and encouraging experience.

One of the key questions that came up during the course was also covered in Duke’s Do Lecures talk of a few years ago:

«What does the world need most that you are uniquely qualified to deliver?»

How powerful and thought-provoking! There is so much packed into it.

The world is big, I mean really big.

Need isn’t the same as want or desire.

Most reduces the vast pool of options to what really counts.

Having to be qualified sets the bar reasonably high.

Deliver clearly stands for action and not just lots of thinking.

Last but not least, the expression «uniquely» pinpoints at nobody else other than you with everything you stand for.

We have all been trained to be humble. Well, most of us. This question has nothing to do with how «good» you are, whatever that means anyway. It is all about connecting with and contributing to everything around you. That includes family, friends, coworkers, but also complete strangers, any other living beings and the environment as such.

I strongly believe that the world is in shortage of love, kindness and joy.

What I am referring to is the everyday version of love, kindness and joy, the one expressed in public in small doses as opposed to the monumental version experienced occasionally behind closed doors and drawn curtains. This need is definitely universal and ranges pretty high on the needs list during times like these.

I also believe that my qualification lies in the fact that I consider the best version of me the one when I am in a state of receiving and giving love, kindness and joy. The delivery part ranges from holding the door for a young mother pushing a pram to making someone laugh. Almost every situation involving an interaction with others represents an invitation to give without expecting anything in return. That is when the yield on your «investment» accrues exponentially.

My world is a small world. And yet, it contains all the elements that make up the world as most of us define it. Hence, the reason for the bold title of this story.
