#31: Appropriately

I grew up knowing that «there was no such thing as bad weather». No excuse not to commit yourself to the rain and mud.

«Just put on your boots and your rain jacket.» Those were my mum’s words.

Or put differently, dress appropriately!

Knowing the rule is one thing, following it another.

Cycling in the rain with my daughter today was a stark reminder of the need to do so. When I asked her whether or not I had told her about it, she just looked at her wet jeans, gave me her best smile and said: «I sure do, but I should have also followed the damn rule!».

So how broadly applicable or adaptable is that rule?

There is no such thing as a big misunderstanding. Just talk about it.

There is no such thing as irreparable damage to a relationship. Just show that you truly care.

There is no such thing as an insurmountable challenge. Just ask for help.

There is no such thing as an unsolvable problem. Just keep trying.

There is no such thing as the real world. Just keep dreaming.

Or in other words, just act appropriately!
