#33: Candle

Here we go again. Another Zoom call. 8 people. Bookshelves, plants and white walls in the background. Plus one candle burning.

The sight of that candle immediately caught my attention and cast a spell on me. It calmed me down rather unexpectedly and put a smile on my face.

So when I look at a candle, what do I see?

Fire.

Heat.

Life.

Joy.

Community.

Am I the fire, the heat, the life, the joy and the community?

Not really right now.

It felt like my fire got extinguished. I had to say it.

And yet, it feels different now. Embers are still glowing. There is residual heat. No flame, but then you don’t cook directly over the flame either. Ember roasting is the way to go.

In the meantime I have put a candle on my desk. It is not there for my next Zoom call as I have no intention to cast a spell on someone else. It would be careless to do so without the potion to break that spell.

I owe it to myself.

Keep my fire burning.
