#40: Functionality
Where is that little booklet with the instructions on how to reset to «factory settings»? Which button to press? Hmmm… there is apparently no such thing for human beings!
It feels like our ability to just function has been gaining in importantce. It has been a while already. The challenges we are facing as a society, economy, community, company, family and individuals aren’t diminishing. They are growing by the day.
I see more and more people running out of steam. And yet, most of us can probably take more. Just a bit. A tiny bit more. Temporarily. Not forever.
We keep functioning and thereby serving a purpose. The emphasis lies on «a purpose», not «our purpose». We try our best to be of good practical use. After all, the system relies on us functioning.
And then we reset. Start afresh.
However, I am wondering where that button is. I can’t even find the instruction manual. Problem resolution. There is no page to flip to, no standard procedure to follow.
There is no such thing. We aren’t machines and shouldn’t look at ourselves as if we were. No point in treating others like machines either.
Googling a few terms I have been thinking about in the context of this post, I have come up with both expected and surprisingly uplifting results:
Productivity beats humanity with 307 million results over 269 million and efficiency (531 million) delivers a higher result score than effectiveness (446 million)
But then love wins over professionalism with a landslide!
Right defeats wrong by the factor 3.
Experiment dwarfs execution.
Impact achieves the results of profit times two.
… and the future is most definitely brighter than the past!
You decide on what you see when you look at your screen.
You aren’t just functioning.
Your perception creates your reality.
