#91: I See You.

The same way there is no single truth, there isn’t a single reality either.

So what’s yours?

I see you.

Not so long ago, I experienced the following memorable moments just a few weeks apart:

«What do you do anyway? Asking to get paid for this? And then you don’t even do all of it. What a waste. You are the kind of person we don’t want to have around.»

«We very much appreciate everything you do and the effort you put into it. Until we have all agreed which direction to take, we count on you and would love you to hang in there for the time being.»

These statements directed at the same person on the same subject demonstrate that there can’t possibly be one single reality. We all agree there is more than one.

In case you wondered, you are no doubt the creator of your own reality. However, you are not the one and only. The people you surround yourself with co-create your reality for you. The sum of those realities is what you perceive as your reality.

Don’t like it? Change it!

There are a minimum of two approaches to take. Ask yourself what you can do differently or simply change your attitude. Alternatively, surround yourself with people seeing you as a human being, beyond your title, role, responsibilities, successes and failures. If they don’t see you, they don’t deserve your energy, your dedication nor your vulnerability. No point in showing it to them.

«That was when the little girl left her village of a few hundred souls to conquer the world. She went to the big city to fulfill her dream. Today, there must be a place again for her to go to.»

She burst into tears while saying it. Having crafted her own personal story during a workshop, she realized that she saw herself when telling her own story.

I see me.

Seeing others or being seen by others can easily result in a rude awakening.

And yet, never underestimate the impact of seeing yourself.
